Improving Your Personal Appearance

How much time do you put into the way you look every day? While this number is different for everyone, investing some time into your appearance can really help you to go out into the world more confidently and feel better about yourself. I started going to spas and salons a few months back, and it was really nifty to see how many services they offered that could really improve my life. I decided that it would be incredible to work with other people to teach them about spas and salons, since they can make you feel renewed and refreshed.

Don't Damage The Hair: How To Protect Your Extensions This Summer

Lena Griffin

Summer is almost here. It's time to get your summer look going. If you've decided to add some flair to your hair by investing in clip-on hair extensions, you'll need to be prepared for the hair care. Clip-on extensions are great when you're not quite ready to commit yourself to permanent extensions. However, you still need to provide them with some additional care, especially during the summer. Here are four tips that will help you protect your extensions this summer.

Take Care When Attempting the Beach Look

Now that you're going to have long hair for the summer, you might be excited to try the beach look. However, you do need to take care when attempting this look, especially with your clip-on hair extensions. Many people reach for the salt sprays to achieve the beach look. Unfortunately, salt sprays can wreak havoc on hair extensions. To prevent damage, avoid the use of salt sprays on your hair extensions.

Watch the Chlorine and Salt Water

If you're going to be heading to the beach or even to your local swimming pool, take care with your extensions. Chlorine and salt water can cause serious damage to your hair, especially if you don't provide some treatment in advance. If you know that you'll be getting into the water and you don't want to leave your extensions at home, provide a pre-treatment before you head out. One way to protect your hair is to apply a conditioner prior to swimming. Simply wet your extension and then apply a thin layer of conditioner to the hair. This will protect your extensions and prevent tangling.

Apply a Deep Conditioner About Once a Week

In addition to applying conditioner to your extensions prior to swimming, you should also provide a deep conditioning treatment about once a week. Remove your extensions and get them damp with cold water. Apply conditioner to the extensions and then allow them to set overnight. In the morning, wash the conditioner out with a mild shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

Avoid Too Much Sun Exposure

You know to protect your skin from the sun, but you might not know that you also have to protect your extensions. Continued exposure to the sun can damage your extensions. One way to protect your extensions for sun damage is to wear a hat when you head outside. Another way is to give your extensions a break several times a week by leaving them at home when you head outside.
